Contratenor

Václav Polívka (24. 9. 1974) started his musical career at the age of ten as a member of the Dětský pěvecký sbor Československého rozhlasu (Children choir of the Czechoslovak radio broadcast) led by the conductor Čestmír Stašek. In his singing formation, the collaboration with Petr Šefl was very important, especially his performance of J. S. Bach’s songs and arias at the age of 12. Same goes for the cooperation with Miloš Bok, the premiere of Bok’s Missa Brevis, performed with Václav’s brothers, should not be left unmentioned. He cultivated his voice through consultations with I. Troupová and since 2001 has Václav studied at K. Fürstová, prof. T. Blumová a P. Zumrová, rather accidentally all of them having used the Szamosi technique about which he is making a visual document. His voice extends from G to g2.
